Robert Wesley Shank II, 28, was visibly highly intoxicated and had bloodied knuckles when police were called to a home on West Howard Street in Red Lion last Sunday afternoon on reports of a disturbance, according to the outlet citing the complaint.
He violently whipped and shook the animals for 10 minutes in the middle of the road before shoving them in the snow -- one animal died due to the abuse, only after assaulting the women and hurting the children who tried to stop him, the outlet reports citing police. Shank punched his way through a glass door in the back of the house moments before authorities arrived, York Dispatch said citing charging documents.
Shank has been charged with the following, according to his court docket:
- F Aggravated Cruelty to Animals- Causing Serious Bodily Injury Or Death
- F Aggravated Cruelty To Animals- Torture (2 Counts)
- M Cruelty To Animals (2 Counts)
- M Simple Assault (3 Counts)
- S Harassment - Subject Other To Physical Contact (3 Counts)
- S Public Drunkenness And Similar Misconduct
- S Disorder Conduct Hazardous/Physically Offensive
- F Criminal Trespass/Simple Trespasser
- F Burglary-Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Bodily Injury Crime
He was being held in the York County Prison in lieu of $25,000 in bail, according to his court docket.
His preliminary hearing has been scheduled with Magisterial District Judge John H. Fishel on Mar. 31 at 1 p.m., according to his updated court docket.
